Who really killed Baby?

Others profit from our tragedy!
BEWARE OF THE BAD VET

A "stray" large tan Chow mix dog attacked and mauled our black and tan male Chihuahua named "Baby" on Thursday evening April 5, 2001.

How did this large tan dog ever get free range on the block? How did this seemingly quiet dog come to learn to antagonize, hunt, attack and kill Baby?

It was humans who are ultimately responsible for Baby's death. The man who abandoned the tan dog on the block is ultimately responsible for Baby's death. The children that later on encouraged that tan dog to hunt and attack Baby are also to blame for Baby's death.

Humans are responsible for Baby's death.

Sure, Baby should not have been on the street. But neither should the large stray tan dog that attacked him! This same tan dog attacked Baby last summer and nearly killed him then.

Baby's bark was worse than his bite!

Some may say that Baby was a nuisance with his yapping at people, on the occasions that he sneaked out the yard. But NOT ONE person EVER claimed to have been bitten by him.

Will the person that ever got bitten by Baby please come forward

We ask you, is yapping and chasing bicycles reason enough to encourage and allow a large abandoned dog, no less than 60 lbs. Heavier, to attack a 15 lb. Chihuahua?

Will the teens that harassed Baby learn from this? Unlikely, since their parents don't care much.

A friend asked over the Internet: What kind of child encourages an 80 lb. dog to attack a small Chihuahua And what kind of parent raises a child that would behave with such cruelty?

  • A child that has no parental supervision.
  • A parent that has no respect for the rights of others and insists that her child is right all the time.

Isn't that what mothers of criminals in jail always say? My son is a good boy he never does anything wrong!

The quickness that everyone expressed in denying any responsibility for the tan dog while at the same time encouraged the dog to stick around the block by feeding him is amazing!

The teenagers that constantly harassed Baby and encouraged the tan dog to attack him should be ashamed of themselves.

These children found joy and happiness in seeing this large tan dog hunt and antagonize Baby.

They are now seemingly oblivious and uncaring about the fact that Baby is dead.

These children saw the large tan dog attack and maul Baby and NEVER told us so we could get him quick medical attention.

After the thrill wore off, the cheap thrill of seeing the large tan dog maul Baby, they quietly hid themselves behind closed doors and left the dog to die.

We found Baby in a pool of blood. We could not save him.

This same tan dog attacked Baby last summer. Baby was nearly killed then. But he came back. A little Chihuahua's spirit is something to be admired.

This time around Baby wasn't so lucky.

The ASPCA never picked up the tan dog even after repeated calls when he first attacked Baby last summer, but the Center for Animal Care and Control acted swiftly to remove the tan dog and its companion from the street this time around.

The large tan dog will be destroyed!

What a shame for he could have been a good pet. The tan dog's companion will probably undergo the same fate.

But where is the joy in all of this? Baby is dead. Nothing can bring him back! We will not have Baby anymore. The joy that he brought to those that played with him will only be in our memories.

Three dead dogs!

HELLO PEOPLE Where is the thrill now?

Where is the joy and happiness in the death of three dogs?

When we first brought Baby to Central Veterinary Associates Main Hospital in Valley Stream,73 West Merrick Road Valley Stream, NY 11580 we should have know better. They saw us coming!

At the first sight of Baby one of the doctors said "This looks like over a thousand dollars worth of damage". And when he saw my surprised look he added "I'm not kidding".

I was taken aback by his choice of financial words to describe Baby's condition and the next 20 hours did not get any better.

Central Veterinary Associates Main Hospital in Valley Stream focused on the money they were going to make and never on the health of the dog!

I repeatedly asked to have Baby transferred to my own Veterinary in Brooklyn and Central Veterinary Associates refused to release my dog! Central Veterinary Associates said that even if they released him I already had incurred most of the charges. Over half the amount of an estimate for a week of treatment gets charged in less than a day. Again and again money was the only motivating factor in their treatment of my dog!

Over half the amount of an estimate
for a week of treatment
gets charged in less than a day!

Baby died on Friday April 6 at the Central Veterinary Associates Main Hospital, 73 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream, New York. If the dog's tragic death wasn't enough, I also have to deal with the poor billing practices, read fraudulent practices, of the veterinarian, Central Veterinary Associates Main Hospital in Valley Stream ,New York.

I was given an estimate of over $1200 for a week of treatment. The veterinarian managed to charge me nearly $700 in less than a day. The vet is charging for services it did not perform and for supplies that it did not use. Baby was alive in the Main Hospital in Valley Stream for less than 20 hours, yet we are being billed for three (3) days worth of supplies and a doctor's visit that never happened. Central Veterinarian has never responded to our calls or letters and we have been forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York We find that we are not alone in being victimized by this Veterinary group. They have 8 complaints filed in the past 3 years and ours makes 9. Beware of this Veterinarian.

The veterinarian said that they would "not be able to stitch baby or operate on him in any way until he became stable"..."at least three days of intravenous fluids. We can only watch him until he gets stronger" So if they could only watch him ...how is it that it cost nearly $700 to just watch the dog for less than 20 hours?
