The Southern Poverty Law Center has evidence that extremists join the US armed forces to receive training that they can later use in working with hate groups. We are all at greater risk when hate group members and loyalist decide to use their military knowledge to kill innocent civilians. I do not need to remind you of Oklahoma City. Despite the SPLC presenting its findings to the Department of Defense and Congress, there has been no action.

There is already a know problem of violence and non-transition into peaceful civilian life with many returning service members. This problem will be magnified with the training of hate group loyalists in military and terrorist tactics and also creates a very serious situation of willful and deliberate use of military training against all the civilian population in the United States. Congress and the Administration must set standards that will result in the rejection of members of known hate groups who attempt to join the US military.

No other news organization that's considered legitimate consistently wages smear campaigns based on lies and race-baiting. But for years Fox News has done exactly that, and the pattern has only gotten worse since Barack Obama entered national politics.
Here are just a few examples:
-- A frequent Fox guest, Jesse Lee Peterson, said that the majority of Black people have poor moral character, and cited "what they did to the dome" after Hurricane Katrina as evidence.[3] Peterson has also used his platform on Fox to claim that 90% of Black people are racists -- against Whites.[4]
-- In a case of naked race-baiting, Fox host Glenn Beck called President Obama a "racist" who had a "deep-seated hatred for White people or the White culture."[5] Earlier that week, Beck claimed that the President's health insurance reform proposals were a form of "reparations" designed to "settle old racial scores."[6]
-- Fox host John Stossel argued that the public accommodations section of the Civil Rights Act -- which prevents businesses from discriminating based on race, sex, and other factors -- should be repealed.[7]
-- Fox News hosts Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity were the first to air deceptively edited and incomplete video of Shirley Sherrod's remarks to the NAACP.[8] The video made it seem like Sherrod was confessing to using her position at the USDA to discriminate against White farmers, when she was really talking about the importance of overcoming prejudice. Sherrod lost her job over this misrepresentation, which Fox enthusiastically repeated without seeking the facts. Fox has since tried to pretend it had nothing to do with this smear -- but Fox is the number one reason these kinds of distortions and smears have any part in our national dialogue.
The examples above aren't even a tenth of Fox's vicious lies and smears, and over the years they've just gotten more brazen.
The goal of Turn Off Fox is to reduce the number of public TVs showing Fox News, while spreading the word about Fox's poison (and how it works) to those who don't know.

A U.S. Federal Judge put the fear of the devil in all of the Bush team when he allowed a lawsuit brought by a torture victim at Guantanamo to proceed against Donald Rumsfeld.

This global movement will not stop. The damage caused by Bush's crimes is too great and too many people have been harmed. As they did with the Chilean dictator Pinochet, the people will struggle for accountability until justice has been achieved.
Bush and company are well aware that they can be held accountable.

Just a few weeks ago, an Argentinian judge sentenced former Argentinian President Reynaldo Bignone to twenty-five years in prison for the kidnapping and torture of 56 people in a torture center. This is precisely what Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld ordered.

The CIA set up torture centers for people who the Pentagon or CIA kidnapped. And Guantanamo was determined by the United Nations to be a "torture center."

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff of Colin Powell, testified before Congress that at least 108 prisoners died while in
U.S. detention during the Bush era, many of them from torture.

It took an arduous, long-fought campaign to bring Pinochet in Chile and Reynaldo Bignone in Argentina to justice. But it is of singular importance. If high officials can, with impunity, commit murders, launch illegal invasions, create a global system of kidnapping and torture, and secretly wiretap and spy on their own citizens, it sends a message to future officials that they too can stand above the law and commit any crime.

In response to the criminal and catastrophic British Petroleum created oil disaster we are concerned that wildlife, including sea turtles and other protected marine species, may be victims of sea surface oil burns, skimming and other oil containment techniques.

We call on the Unified Command and federal agencies of the United States of America to:

1. Place qualified third party wildlife observers on "Vessels of Opportunity" responding to the criminal and catastrophic British Petroleum created oil disaster.
2. Publicly report all wildlife observations in the oil impact areas.
3. Postpone burns when protected species are present to allow for appropriate intervention and immediately implement measures to eliminate avoidable harm to all protected species.
4. Coordinate wildlife rescue interventions.

These life saving measures must be applied to all open water response operations conducting: burning, skimming, vacuuming, chemical dispersant application and any other techniques used to collect, capture, or disperse oil.

Observation data of oil-exposed wildlife must be publicly available and included in the official daily wildlife casualty reports that currently only report captured and collected wildlife.

The greed of BP created this catastrophe and only the generosity of BP can now save the sea creatures from extinction. Please spare no effort to save what is left of these wonderful sea creatures.

Nikon S550 Blurry Grainy Pictures No Matter What You Do

I bought a Nikon COOLPIX S550 and the pictures are blurry and grainy. There is nothing that you can do to fix this and Nikon wont acknowledge this problem on their website. This is not my first digital camera and I am not a novice photographer. I've had digital Canons, Kodaks, Minoltas, and Samsungs all of which take excellent clear sharp pictures. I thought I try Nikon as a birthday present for a friend who already has a very nice but old Canon digital camera that he purchased in 2001. My friend likes up scale brand name items so I thought a Nikon would complement his old Canon. I was very disappointed to see most of the pictures turn out grainy and blurred. Nikon will not acknowledge this problem but it is clearly a problem with the camera. Just do a Google on Nikon blurry picture and you will find many people having the same problem. My friend has now given the S550 back to me saying thanks for the thought but I cannot use it. It is a Shame that Nikon will not acknowledge the blurry, noisy picture taken by its Nikon Coolpix S550.
